Padaria Madalena

Stalls: 162-163

Ms. Amélia Babo came to Mercado do Bolhão by the hand of her mother, Madalena.

Ms. Madalena was an employee of the Milaneza stall when it still sold bread. Years later, she became the owner of the stall, and, at that time, Ms. Amélia would come to help her in the business, delivering bread in the nearby streets.

When Ms. Madalena left the market, Ms. Amélia took up the family business, which she maintains until today. She also decided to keep the stall with her mother's name. Due to the renovation of the market and the consequent review of stall names, Ms. Amélia wanted to pay this tribute to her mother, who — as she tells us — was very moved the day she visited the renovated Bolhão and saw her name on the stall.
