Lurdes das Toalhas

Stall: 31

Lurdes' mother, Maria Argentina Malheiro, spent 62 years working in Bolhão. Born in Braga, Maria Argentina came to Porto to work as a maidservant in a family house in the city. At the service of her employer, Maria Argentina began to go to the market to sell vegetables. Shortly afterwards, she decided to join the merchants and opened her own stall in Bolhão. At that time, Lourdes' mother would sell natural flowers, and was helped by her children in the business.

Decades later, aged 86, Maria Argentina Malheiro left the market and left her two stalls to her children. It was then that, in 2015, Lurdes started her certified handicraft business and focused on selling towels. Her brother, Domingos Alexandre, took over Conserveira do Bolhão, presently in the name of his son, Diogo Pires.
