Charcutaria Princesa

Stall: 15

Joaquim Lucas is the third generation of his family working at Mercado do Bolhão. His grandmother, Maria Ferreira, started selling beans in the 1940s, and his mother, Aurora Ferreira do Couto, followed in her footsteps, and would sell flowers here, until the temporary closure of Bolhão in 2018.

During the renovation period of the market, and the consequent move to the temporary market, Joaquim took over his mother's stall, but changed the branch of business, namely by embracing the field of cured meat products. After 25 years working in different fields (as a computer technician, process manager, production manager, repair technician, and cameraman), while also giving a helping hand to his mother at her stall, the circumstances of life dictated that Joaquim would become a salesman, specializing in the field of processed meats.

Being endowed with an adventurous, brave spirit, Joaquim accepted the challenge of leaving his comfort zone and field of expertise, and, today, he is happy with the commitment he made to selling high quality products. Thanks to the changes he made in his professional life, Joaquim can now enjoy frequent contact with a wide range of people and cultures. As he puts it, it is with them that "he learns a lot and broadens his horizons."

As for the name given to the space, "Princess," Joaquim tells us that it pays tribute to his daughter and granddaughter.
