With the entry into force of the Free Metropolitan Pass for Porto residents, getting to Mercado do Bolhão is now simpler, more convenient, and more affordable. It's a measure that addresses one of the main challenges identified by market visitors, inviting more Porto residents to enjoy the commercial, gastronomic, and cultural offerings of this iconic space.
Since July 10th, Porto residents over the age of 23 have also been able to travel free of charge on public transport, under this new measure, to have lunch at the market's restaurants, stock up the pantry with fresh seasonal produce, or discover the small markets and initiatives featured in the summer programme.
The Bolhão metro station connects the market to the whole city via lines A, B, C, E, and F. For those traveling by bus, there are also several available lines connecting the market to other areas of the metropolitan region as well.
Through free mobility, transport becomes more accessible and sustainable, eliminating concerns about traffic or parking in the historic center and leaving visitors right at the doorstep of the iconic Mercado do Bolhão.
